Collaboration with UC San Diego students of engineering to create a solar-powered, stand alone machine that precipitated salts and fertilizers passively from the Salton Sea. The region is a complex mix of migratory bird habitat, ecological periphery, and hazardous waste disposal. Fertilizers from regional agriculture collect in the lake causing toxic conditions for displaced bird populations and humans alike. A map of the surrounding area was created with salts precipitated by the machine. An essay on the project is available here.
